1. No matter how many scoreless innings he pitches, dealing away Nick Swisher was still the right thing to do.

2. The Sox win with an average of 6.2 runs and lose with an average of 2.2 runs. This was not unexpected.

3. The fifth inning is the problem; opponents have scored in all but four of the ten fifth innings played. This also was not unexpected.

4. It’s only been ten games, but which happens first: A.J. Pierzynski draws a second walk or steals a second base?

5. Fluff issued by the official site always entertains, but strangely manages to outsunshine itself when a player is doing well. Behold! Carlos Quentin is the most Advanced hitter of our time. Dude went to Stanford, you know.

6. The Chicago White Sox have fewer home runs than the Cleveland Indians, and that’s not even counting the air strike happening right now in the Bronx. If the Sox are serious about taking the division, they’re going to need to reclaim their dominance in this obviously vital arena.

7. There is a good chance the AL Central will remain generally unchanged from here on out, not in standings but in the shape of things. A leader just over .500, a few right around the break-even mark, and some lone baseball curmudgeon stinking up the division.

8. Corky Miller. Great arm, great story, great name.

9. Joe who?

10. Center field, middle relief, baserunning, the top of the order, situational hitting: same crap, different day. This, friends, is apparently how you defend a division title.
