Good thing that’s over, and what have we learned? Maybe neither of these teams are ready to go the distance. To wit:<\/p>\n
SOX FANS:<\/strong> They rewarded us with a sweep of the enemy, and that’s just about all we can ask for. But keep in mind that every single one of last night’s Sox runs came off of home runs, as did four of Saturday’s six and four of Friday’s ten. Lest anyone think that’s not a recipe for short-term success and eventual demise, take the longball out of the equation and the Good Guys drop two of the last three. Enjoy the moment, but let’s not get our hopes up. . . even though it’s always a good feeling to crush the supposed best team in the land.<\/p>\n CUBS FANS:<\/strong> Your team cannot win on the road, period. This is not just a regular, adjustable, fixable-with-a-tweak-or-trading-for-a-bench-player kind of problem, and those of us among the South Side faithful look forward to your team’s ineptitude away from their home yard doing them about as much good as the Sox’ inability to score runs outside of the bombs dropped in theirs.<\/p>\n
