We try to avoid news blurbs here, but this is just too rich to pass up. In case you needed further proof of Major League Baseball’s willful ignorance on the matter of steroids, we present John Rocker on John Rocker:

“Bud Selig knew in the year 2000 John Rocker was taking the juice,” the former pitcher said Monday of the baseball commissioner on Atlanta radio station 680. “Didn’t do anything about it.”

And now with the follow-up, we present Major League Baseball on how to create an invisible fall guy when you have no one to blame but yourself for turning a blind eye to performance-enhancing drugs, and the only reason there was no further discipline available was because your own alleged internal watchdogs said no, no, no way are we allowing testing and punishment:

“Further discipline was not an option legally available to Major League Baseball at that time.”

That cleaning up the game thing is great. It’s gold, Jerry! Gold!
