The 35th Street Review

Part passion. Part pretension. Mostly White Sox.

Vote for. . . Whoever

June 24th, 2008 by Andrew Reilly · No Comments

In case you needed proof of just how poorly All-Star voting reflects reality, take a look at the numbers for overall AL voting leader Derek Jeter:

  • .279 Average / .339 On-Base Percentage / .379 Slugging
  • 32 RBI, 4 HR
  • 78 hits, 19 walks, 34 strikeouts
  • Six errors
  • 1,988,251 All-Star votes, just a jumping throw ahead of second-highest vote recipient David Ortiz, who has thus far garnered 1,982,786 despite being out for the season

Go now. Vote for Orlando Cabrera, or Michael Young, or anyone really. Now. Anyone. Seriously. [MLB.com]
