I see Detroit got on the cover of SI. I didn’t even bother to read it–I assume it’s some politically correct, touchy-feely story about “overcoming adversity in tough economic times.” As much as I can’t stand the Twins (the so-called smartest team in baseball history) I’d love to see Detroit choke…hard.
That’s pretty much the gist of it, as though getting to the playoffs by virtue of playing in a terrible division somehow makes up for years and years of mismanagement and tying your entire civic foundation to a single industry.

I’m not sure who to hope for here. I hate them both. But MIN more because although they play the game the way it should be played, they also hate our guts. There are so many teams to root against (NYY, BOS, DET, MIN, STL, PHI), and almost none to root for (LAD, LAA?). I guess I’ll pull for MIN to make it just so Mauer can get his well deserved MVP. If they give it to Jeter, I’m going to punch a kitten.
