The 35th Street Review

Part passion. Part pretension. Mostly White Sox.

With Arms Outstretched

Before anyone starts pointing to today’s game as how “this team never gives up” or “reminiscent of 2005,” let’s just take a step back and review the last three (extremely important) days of baseball:

  • Friday’s scoring plays: two-run homer, two-run homer. Sox lose.
  • Saturday’s scoring plays: two-run homer, sacrifice fly following a triple. Sox lose.
  • Sunday’s scoring plays: two-run homer, two-run homer, ridiculous call in the Good Guys’ favor, fielding error, single, single. Sox win.

Maybe, just maybe, the magic of the 2008 White Sox lies not in their ability to win but in their ability to wait for the rarest and strangest of plays. Arms to our sides and wind at our backs, together we will reign forever.
